**Pre-Requisite: STRONG knowledge of all operations with fractions.  Ability to read and write on grade level.

Students who participate in this class will receive a systematic introduction to the sciences with a Christian Worldview, using a classical approach.  Students will study a wide variety of scientific topics in this survey course, such as the scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, archaeology, geology, paleontology, biology, and human anatomy and physiology.  Students will participate in hands-on laboratory experiments that correlate with the text.  Text will be supplemented with five dissections. Students will also research, design and complete a science experiment and participate in the RCT Science Fair.  (RCT Science Fair entries are limited to students enrolled in RCT laboratory science classes.)

Materials:

1. Exploring Creation With General Science, 2nd Edition 2 book set (Includes Solutions and Test Manual) ($85)

2. Basic Calculator

3. Two graph – ruled, bound (not spiral) notebooks (Laboratory Journals) ($3-$8)

Physical Science with Lab - 33 weeks - Wednesdays

8th – 10th Grade - 8:00-8:55 am

Tuition: $400*

Lab Supply Fee: $50

**Pre-Requisite: PRE-ALGEBRA (must be completed prior to the start of class) and STRONG knowledge of all operations with fractions, and ability to solve for unknowns

Students who participate in this college-prep class will study such topics as the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, weather, the structure of the earth, environmentalism, the physics of motion, Newton’s Laws, gravity, and astrophysics with a Christian Worldview, using a classical approach.  Students will participate in hands-on laboratory experiments and prepare formal and informal laboratory reports.  Students will also be able to design and complete a science experiment and participate in the RCT Science Fair.  (RCT Science Fair entries are limited to students enrolled in RCT laboratory science classes.)

Materials:

1. Exploring Creation With Physical Science, 2nd Edition 2 book set (Includes Solutions and Test Manual) ($85)

2. Two graph – ruled, bound (not spiral) notebooks (Laboratory Journals) ($3-$8)

Biology with Lab - 33 weeks - Wednesdays

9th – 12th Grade - 9:00-9:55 am

Tuition: $400*

Lab Supply Fee: $75

**Pre-Requisite: General Science or Physical Science

Students who participate in this college-prep class will study a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general biology with a Christian Worldview, using a classical approach. Heavily emphasizing the vocabulary of biology, students will be provided with a strong background in the scientific method, the five-kingdom classification scheme, microscopy, biochemistry, cellular biology, molecular and Mendelian genetics, evolution, dissection, and ecosystems.  A complete survey of the five kingdoms in Creation will also be made.  Students will participate in hands-on laboratory experiments and prepare formal and informal laboratory reports. Students will also research, design and complete a science experiment and participate in the RCT Science Fair.  (RCT Science Fair entries are limited to students enrolled in RCT laboratory science classes.)

Materials:

1. Exploring Creation With Biology, 2nd Edition 2 book set (Includes Solutions and Test Manual) ($85)

2. Two graph – ruled, bound (not spiral) notebooks (Laboratory Journals) ($3-$8)3. Basic set of colored pencils

Chemistry with Lab – 33 weeks - Wednesdays

10th – 12th Grade - 10:00-10:55 am

Tuition: $400*

Lab Supply Fee: $75

**Pre-Requisite: Algebra I (must be completed prior to start of class) AND Physical Science OR Biology

Students who participate in this college-prep class will study significant figures, units, classification, the mole concept, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, gas laws, and equilibrium with a Christian Worldview, using a classical approach.  Students will also study biographical sketches of Christian scientists who have made a difference in the field while giving the glory to God. Experiments include measuring specific heat, discovering the electrical conductivity of compounds dissolved in water, measuring the width of a molecule, exploring freezing point depression, using the ideal gas equation, recognizing the effects of catalysts, and more.  Students will participate in hands-on laboratory experiments and prepare formal and informal laboratory reports. Students will also research, design and complete a science experiment and participate in the RCT Science Fair.  (RCT Science Fair entries are limited to students enrolled in RCT laboratory science classes.)

Materials:

1. Exploring Creation With Chemistry, 2nd Edition 2 book set (Includes Solutions and Test Manual) (approximately $85)

Since the publishing of the 3rd edition, you will find the 2nd edition as used curriculum fairs, and through resellers such as Amazon and ebay.

**We are using the 2nd edition due to numerous errors present in the 3rd edition.  Click here for more information on why the Second Edition is the better option.

2. Two graph – ruled, bound (not spiral) notebooks (Laboratory Journals) ($3-$8)

3. Scientific Calculator (ability to do exponents)

Physics with Lab - 33 weeks - Wednesdays

11th – 12th Grade - 8:30-9:55 am

Tuition: $400*

Lab Supply Fee: $45

**Pre-Requisite: 11th and 12th grade students with a good command of Algebra 1 skills. Basic trigonometry skills needed will be presented in-class.

The instruction for this class closely follows our textbook, Exploring Creation with Physics, 2nd Edt. Apologia. This high school physics course covers equations of motion, Newton's Laws, work & energy, waves, optics, electricity and magnetism. Class time is used to highlight concepts presented in the text, solve sample problems, and complete selected experiments from the text. The student will be responsible for keeping up with the reading and completing the practice problems. The Module Tests and Experiment Lab reports, each completed at home, will be collected and graded. These two items will constitute the majority of the student's evaluation.

Homework: 5-6 hours each week. Students are expected to keep up with the scheduled reading and practice problems.
Materials:

Text: Apologia Exploring Creation With Physics, 2nd edition textbook & Solutions Manual

Supplies: TI-84 Graphing Calculator or equivalent capable of trig. functions and exponential notation
